Photoshop Composite For Commercial Use
There are times when you need to create your image beyond the normal out of the camera view.
You may have a model on hire for your photoshoot.
And they might not want to hang around all day.
So one solution is to take that model, place them in a studio and take the shot.
Then...
...The photographer can find a suitable background and drop it in behind.
This is quite a technical skillset.
In this recent example, our client wanted a shot of a skylight, but the skylight was in the studio...
So we took the studio shot and added the roof and background.
The following image is made up of four seperate images:

Compositing as a cost saving.
Not many companies are aware that dramatic shots can be achieved through compositing.
It takes a high level of skill to pull a good composite together in Photoshop, but when done correctly, it can create awesome images.
But the real benefit to business, is that you can get an effect, without paying for extended model booking fees.
You can take a shot in studio, then have the background added later, reducing costs in many instances.
An example of some recent compositing for our creative portfolio:

Lighting clear plastic on a white background
So here was a client request.
An item with clear plastic on a white background, a very difficult shot.
So what did we do?
First we lit the background.
Placed an acrylic base in front of it.
Placed the item on the acrylic.
Used black to either side.
Then lit the item from the front.
But here is the clever part.
The shot was taken with the white balance slightly off.
Then we masked the plastic and corrected the background white in photoshop.
So the plastic has a slightly different white coming through it.
A little bit more editing and tidying up and you can see the finished result here:

Be careful taking pictures of Red Buses...
Apparently someone has sued someone else because their images were similar.
The world of licensing can be quite confusing and is often the reason a professional photographer with knowledge of licensing laws should be used.

Soggy Dogs and all that...
It seems a fellow photographer has found a niche photographing "soggy dogs".
At $1,000.00 (Australian) a pop, he seems to be doing quite well.
Not an avenue Business Photography will be pursuing however...
